We have a laying flock of Golden Comets, Turkins and Easter Eggers. These birds live outside and have free range over our many acres of pasture. Thier hen house and nesting boxes are built on a trailer and it is moved to a new area every week. They eat the bugs, worms, grass and plants they encounter along with a non-medicated laying feed.
Our meat birds are cornish cross chickens. These are big, meaty birds with white feathers. They do not fly or even glide and prefer to stay on the ground. This they are susceptable to predators, both on the ground and from the air. They live in chicken tractors, pens that have no bottoms that keep the chickens safe from these threats. They have lots of space and are moved to fresh grass every day.
